New Law “JOBS” – Potential Boiler Rooms Going Pop Up

The President pass a new Law called “JOBS Act” Jumpstart Our Business Startups on April 5th.  A great sign for smaller start ups trying to get some funding and get into the stock market, BUT is that a really good thing?

- Fact, most IPO’s don’t actually keep their post IPO price very long and are not the best investment vs. long term mature companies. Take a look at the last few that came out, of LinkedIn, Pandora, Groupon, Carbonite, LinkedIn is the only company that is in the Black, all the others are under the IPO price

-Fact, now this new Act, make it so that you can have 2000 investor shares into a company, before having to reveal all your financials, further allowing for speculation of unfavorable dealings, but also to provide an area for crowed funding. Crowd funding has not become popular, where individuals can collect funds online to help support a startup, with little information and little regulation.

Please review the full article from Kiplingers, and I would like to take my favorite quote of this article out:

How this law gained bipartisan support just four years after inadequate regulatory oversight helped trigger the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression is beyond me. It seems the only thing worse than partisan gridlock is bipartisanship.

Interview Advice – What can you share?

What can you recommend to your peers about job interviewing? The author the of the below article has some nice ideas. In my opinion, I have a few of my own:

-Get a good night sleep the night before, don’t party or do anything abnormal. Anything our of the ordinary can throw your body our of whack

-Anticipate that everything will go wrong that morning, you could be late, your suit might not fit right, nothing but nothing is going to work out for your interview day. It makes for a chuckle when “stuff” actually happens and will put you at ease.

Those are some of my interview tricks, what are yours?

As a human being, not a professional, not a business person, not someone seeking to find business. Take a step back and understand who this person is. Evil exists in this world, and this man should be stopped. I do not like to mix politics into this blog, but this is not about politics, it is about children. Pinterest is Illegal! Pinterest is NOT Illegal, Pinterest is what?

Pinterest Logo

Should Pinterest Be Illegal?

The 2 year old company Pinterest.com is steam rolling almost all social media sites on the web in terms of traffic and usage. So far only being beat out by Facebook.  The social media (Giant) is simply a place where people can post (or pin) there favorite pictures somewhat like a virtual  bulletin board.

However the jury is out as to if Pinterest is actually legal? Consider this most people who post photos and items on the site, are taking it from other sites, that are most likely not their site, nor do they own the work.

Two things come to mind when we speak of this, are they giving credit where credit is due? If I am going to pin up a photo of a Ford Mustang, am I going to make it so everyone goes to that site where I got the photo from? What about if I took the photo from a place that stole the image themselves.

My personal opinion, the cut and dry law that should be drawn in the sand for “copyr

ight law”, if you have taken someones work (stealing it) and put it somewhere where your intent is to make money from the said work, then that is infringement.  In addition to that, if Pinterest, Youtube, or any of these other sites, allow for original work to be placed into the public, we as a world need to better understand that the Internet is consistently changing, and some of the laws put in place may not necessarily work as we move forward. If we are really going to go after copywrites. let’s then go after the teenage girl who has a photo of Justin Beiber, cut outs in her locker or those kids making mixes on tape (dating myself) or CD’s….

It is in the best interest of the global society to really figure out a way to co-exist with “sharing” if we don’t figure out a way to “share” our stuff, there are going to be a lot of rich lawyers with perpetual work….

Those are my two cents… what do you think….

The secret to success: Be nice or not so nice

Nice Guy or Not So Nice GuyAccording to Mr. Tobak, it pays to be nice. While this is true in most situations, I find that in some cases, the nice guys get taken advantage of.

With success comes a certain dance so to speak, you need to be nice and playful most of the time, but in some cases you need to be aggressive and do the Argentine Tango, lips pressed with a not so ‘nice’ look.

So in this case I disagree with with the writers theory somewhat, and with the case stating Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were not nice and you are not them.  Correct be yourself, be nice, assertive and aggressive if you feel the need. Those 2 individuals changed the face of the world, and unfortunately had to be “not so nice to get there”

Are you nice or “not so nice”?

Most Expensive Cities to Live in Around the World and they are not in the US

10 Most Expensive Cities of 2012

10 Most Expensive Cities of 2012

Interesting fact according to research done by Economist Intelligent Unit the most expensive city in the is Zurich, Switzerland. Of the top ten listed cities, the United States was not listed, with New York coming in at 15, still less expensive than those on the list.

It is worth noting though that while the US did not have the most expensive cities, the certainly did not have the least expensive globally?

Where do you live, and what are your thoughts about this list?
